How we fix flashing
- 1We find where the water gets in. We look closely and do not guess.
- 2We remove the old flashing and any bad patches.
- 3We install new step flashing and cut counter flashing into the mortar joints.
- 4For valleys, we form new copper so water flows off clean.
Step plus counter
A good chimney seal has two layers: step flashing under the roof and counter flashing set into the chimney.
Caulk wears out
Caulk alone may stop a leak for a short time. Real flashing lasts much longer.
Copper and slate
Copper and slate are a classic pair on old Bucks County homes. Both can last a very long time.
