Repair or replace your Warminster roof?
If your shingle roof is still flat, gritty, and only has one problem spot, a repair is often enough. A new pipe boot, fresh step flashing at a wall, or a few new shingles after wind can stop a leak.
If shingles are curled, cracked, and bald all over, or you have had more than one leak this year, it may be time to talk about a new roof. Our roof replacement guide explains tear-off, new wood, vents, and flashing.
Low-slope roofs on porches and additions
Shingles need a steep enough slope to shed water. On very low roofs, water moves slowly and can sneak under them. That is why porch and addition roofs leak so often.
These spots may need a different roof covering, such as a membrane or standing seam metal. We will tell you what fits the slope you have.
Storm and emergency help
Strong wind can peel shingles from roof edges and ridges, and falling limbs can punch holes. If water is coming in, call right away. A tarp or quick patch protects the home until the real repair.
Take dated photos before anything is moved. They help you plan the repair and help if you talk with your insurance company.
Slate and metal roofs too
If your home has a slate or metal roof, it needs different care than shingles. Slate needs a gentle touch, since walking on it can break it. Metal roofs need seams and fasteners checked.
If you have slate, see our slate roof repair page before you decide on a full replacement. Good slate can often be saved.
